Teanna learned Chilkat weaving from Elsie Mooney, supported through a grant awarded to her by the First Peoples cultural council. She designed and wove a pair of contemporary dance leggings. Teanna has been enveloped in the world of textiles her entire life, learning to weave with cedar from her mother and grandmother as a little girl. She grew up in Old Masset, on Haida Gwaii. Wiid Jaad means Salmonberry Bird Woman.
She now resides in southeast Alaska, spinning wool, making earrings and weaving Chilkat regalia, working as an independent artist . She is honoring ancient techniques while employing modern, vibrant and contemporary aesthetics- a form of slow fashion using sustainable natural fibers adorning those through her small business Wíid Jaad Studio.
